FAQs

What are eyelash extensions?

Eyelash extensions are synthetic, cruelty free lashes produced to imitate the softest of mink hairs. At Blink Boutique they are applied to the natural lash using a professional EU standard adhesive. My Classic lash extension treatment applies 1 extension to 1 natural lash, whereas Hybrid/Volume lashes extensions are a fan of up to 7 extensions applied to 1 natural lash.  I have various different lengths, thicknesses and curls which I use to create either a natural or more glam style, depending on my clients preference. Lash extensions enhance your natural beauty and make your morning so much easier.  All you need to do is wake up, brush and go…

What happens during my eyelash extension treatment?

After our consultation, where we will have discussed your preferred style, you will have eye patches applied to your lower lashes. Your upper lashes will be cleansed and primed, and I will map out the style we discussed and get lashing! The only thing you will need to do is relax and enjoy some time to yourself. I encourage clients to select their own music, podcast or audio book and enjoy every minute of their treatment.  WIFI is of course available.

What is a lash lift?

A lash lift perfectly curls and lifts your natural eyelashes from base to tip, allowing you to see the full length of your lash.  Your eyes will look brighter and wider and you’ll be able to put away your eyelash curlers as this treatment lasts for 6-8 weeks.

How long does a lash lift treatment take?

The lash lift treatment takes 45 minutes to 1 hour.  The perfect amount of time to relax and enjoy some ‘me’ time.

Will a lash lift damage my natural lashes?

No, the lash lifting process alters the structure of your natural eyelash. Please ensure you inform Blink Boutique if you have recently had a lash lift elsewhere.  If you have, I will be unable to perform this treatment for at least 8 weeks to prevent any damage or over processing of your lashes.

What after care is needed with a lash lift?

Don’t get your lashes excessively wet for 24hrs after your treatment. Avoid steam rooms, saunas or sun-beds for the first 48hrs. Waterproof mascara should be avoided at all times. Be gentle around your eyes, try not to rub them when washing your face.

What is Henna Brow?

Henna is a natural alternative to tint. It’s vegan friendly and contains no lead, no ammonia and doesn’t require the use of hydrogen peroxide. Henna is great for sparse eyebrows because it stains the skin to create a powder filled in look. Henna also picks up the pigment in old semi permanent make up to refresh the colour. It gives unrivalled grey coverage to create soft and natural looking brows for the more mature client.

What is the difference between Henna and Tint?

One of the key difference between brow tint and henna is the staining period.  Tint will stain the skin for a couple of days and the brow hair for a few weeks.  Henna will stain the skin for up to 2 weeks and the brow hairs for 4-6 weeks.  The processing time is longer for henna compared to tint so that is something to factor in when choosing which treatment is best for you.

Follow Blink Boutiques top tips to keep your lashes looking fluffin’ fabulous.

Each client will be different depending on many factors such as skin type, natural lash cycle, medications etc., all of which will be discussed at the consultation stage. With the correct care, your lash extensions could last up to 6 weeks. Here’s how:

  • Avoid oil based products on the eye area. Oils can break down the bond of the extension to the natural lash causing the lash extensions to shed from the lash prematurely.

  • Avoid mascara & waterproof eyeliner. When you apply mascara to your lash extensions they clump together and lose that fluffy natural look. If applied to volume lashes, all of the beautiful hand made volume fans will end up looking like very sad spikes. Not to mention the impossible build up of product it will leave at the base of your lashes.

  • Keep those lovely lashes clean! After the first 24hrs wash then daily with oil free cleanser such as micellar water (double check ingredients as some do contain oil) or the foam cleanser and soft brush provided in your complimentary Blink Boutique aftercare kit, which you’ll receive after your first lash appointment. Gently pat dry and brush through with your lash brush in your kit.

  • Don’t rub, pull or pick your lash extensions! Not only can this cause your lash extensions to fall out prematurely, it can also damage the root of your natural lash.

  • Try to avoid sleeping on your side / face. This will help prevent crushing the lashes in your sleep.

  • Don’t use cotton pads or buds on your eyes. The fibres will get stuck at the base of those beautiful extensions.
